I actually think a combo like two STSF elf warriors of Fort + Reynellan sitting out of combat to dispel and sic the angel/elemental on. would've been a very high risk of death and riskier than what he faced in this log. Two fully charged STSF elves aren't going to miss many trips and servitors don't count for anti-gank :-) It kind of shows how counter-intuitive risk assessment iby starbright - Log Board
That's not to say he played risky throughout the char's lifetime, just that this one fight was probably the riskiest one he'd ever taken. At this moment he went all-in to land a kill, and if he did land the kill he'd have got out without too much harm: civilized <660hp 194m 1079mv 24350tnl (Haste) 3 AM> flur You start a vicious series of attacks with your swords.by starbright - Log Board
i hear your complaints as expressing some deep disappointment that you couldn't "win" with this necro in a way you'd be able to on a good class combo in hero range. but i think your expectations were too high to begin with. i haven't played a necro myself but i've faced them plenty, and on almost every class i've played i found 47 necros fairly unthreatening,by starbright - Log Board
I was talking about really big rewards, like a conjurer familiar or greater X conjuring, a strong shapeshifter quest form, or mechanically-powerful third legacy. most of my characters do get rolecontest wins, lastnames and titles when they're long-lived, etc., I've never found my weird playtimes to prevent me from getting those things reliably. never had a necro so cannot comment on licby starbright - Main Board
English is my first language, but almost none of my characters are highly rewarded. I have two hypotheses about why ESL players don't get highly rewarded. 1. timezone. sharing the same playtimes with active IMMs is by far the most important factor in getting rewards. I have two characters who got great rewards: those I played from GMT+0 timezone, instead of my other characters' GMT+8by starbright - Main Board

Both lean heavily on dex. Personally I prefer Space because a 24 dex STSF warrior isn't really that worried about defence, but having Space fire in a fight can net you a kill quite reliably. Space lags the opponent, on top of giving you 1 to 4 free unblockable attacks per proc. If you think you'll face competent gangs (who know how to stagger lag) then Flow can be a lifesaver.by starbright - Main Board
With imperial defense a minotaur (19 dex) can actually dodge very well, like a duergar perhaps. Imperial offense straight up makes you stronger than a dual-wielder since it gives +1 attack but still have polearm/2h melee. Don't underrate minotaurs, their 4 pracs per level can give them a good number of HP trains. I think I had 1100ish base hp without gear on my minotaur. With gear and berby starbright - Main Board
I had Space on a wood-elf (sword whip space riddle) and a minotaur (pole hand space cry). It was better on the wood-elf, but still decent on the minotaur. I can't really think of many more offensive legacies that are similarly strong, perhaps except Cry.by starbright - Main Board
1. no dual wield 2. no high-damage direct-damage skills like pincer, flurry, drum 3. no passive damage procs (riposte, concealed) Its strengths: 1. very good melee defence, it can turn giants from face-tankers into excellent tanks. 2. slice bleeding with high strength and the edge (swath of destruction) is almost as good as dagger artery bleeding. Mostly relevant in lowbie PK. 3. chargeby starbright - Main Board
Against PKs, you can charge set multiple times within the same tick. I'm not sure how well charge set would stack up against a berserking zerker's parting blow and occasional melee, and the % chance to get past charge set. Better than straight-up melee probably. It's not really enough to make polearms actually good, but charge set is one of their best skills.by starbright - Log Board
I get that bash can stop him inputting active commands, but thirst practically ensures he will get one in before your next bash.. especially from an elf.by starbright - Log Board
I found that even when greatly outclassed by another melee fighter, you can abuse charge set to make them pay for wanting to chase you. It's like a "toggle" to adjust the difficulty of a given melee fight. Even Sekpak may not necessarily win if he has to eat 4 OBLITs before fighting you. It might be smart to make Sekpak eat as many charge sets as necessary to tilt the odds in yoby starbright - Log Board

I've spent a bit of time making a mud (but in C++: ), then lost steam and abandoned it after I implemented most non-combat stuff. I can't imagine how nasty full multi-player group combat would be to implement, especially with spells, minions and other fancy mechanics. Would be nice to hear about / discuss your challenges as you go along. Might be worth thinking about a nice design paby starbright - OT Board
