>I have contributed years of my life to research and answering questions on Game Mechanics and Lore. Hundreds of hours have gone into building and maintaining the QHCF WIki. I've designed rooms and items for the game itself. Do I want points for that? No. Do I deserve a kick ass unique race/class combo? Maybe. But I would never ask for one. I don't believe I'm entitled to jack shit. <
You have said and proven many times on Dio's you feel entitled to keep the "mystery of CF" sacred. So, you do kinda believe you're entitled to things. I've proposed ideas that have been implemented, posted serious bugs that have gotten fixed, and came up with several edge ideas (including some that people thought were OP!). What's your fucking point? We've all contributed to CF, even dudes like Jerry.
>My example was the door in the Violet Woods that leads to the secret Pond. The pond adds nothing yet reaching it is an incredible feat. So many people have spent hours tugging at the random levers/buttons there to find only the scroll shop. <
I mean, I understand this thought, I just think it's rather silly in today's CF. I also love being the first person to figure something out, but you know what I like more? Telling other people and knowing their enjoyment has just increased. I don't play CF so that I can feel good about myself for discovering a secret. Just saying. It's why I never posted any character assassination stuff on the other forum and mostly just posted whatever game info I thought I could share to people that would get enjoyment from such knowledge. I did the same on Dio's multiple times and those posts got deleted. I was trying to help people ENJOY CF MORE AND PEOPLE LIKE YOU STOPPED ME.
>Entitlement is the big reason why. People feel self entitled - that they deserve recognition for their Scores. They ding the ceiling bell 5 times and should get a Quest Skill for it. They are jealous of the authors of these mechanics because they don't need to ring the bell. This is perceived as cheating because to some the points are their objective.<
This has always been the case. It was entitlement with PK records/ratios (look at some death threads in the early 2000s). It's odd you would claim to know why people are jealous, but such is your opinionated right. I'd offer with the introduction of edges and monthly role contests, IMMs have ENCOURAGED players to demand recognition. It's one of the odd catch-22's that have "Hung the IMMs with their own noose" so to speak.
>It's not surprise the vitriolic members of this forum are forever losing and being punished - because they're terrible players as well. A move toward trying to make the game less social and more mechanical is going to kill it further. If people feel they aren't being represented on the staff then they need to Man Up and join it.<
This is an odd collection of statements. I've barely ever been punished, and I'm quite vitriolic at times (I'm an asshole, sue me). The only thing that ever happened to me was Cyradia being a pissy little bitch and taking away stuff from a character of mine. I've actually received more rewards than most any player, and I'm in favor of doing away with said rewards. I've probably been more rewarded than YOU. I would argue you're an absolutely wretched player, ON YOUR WORST DAY. On your BEST day, you're a fantastic player, capable of tremendous RP and PK. But you're no Jaguab, Balrahd or even someone like Isildur. I don't make the argument that you're terrible because you're up the IMMs assholes and they coddle you, so why would you make the statement you made? Sure, for every player like me or Sarien there's a dude who's been banned 20 times, but those are often the exception.
The game has moved to being more mechanical, I'm not sure why you don't see that. And you want to know why? Because no one has the time to put it to do it the non-mechanical way. If edge points were only given for great RP, I can't even imagine how many players would delete delete and never come back, even though that would be ideal. Want to know why? Because IMMs are real people too and often times play different hours, have different standards etc.
And I'd love to be an IMM if I only had to do RP-related things or bust cheaters. But I'd probably have to write an area (doesn't sound that fun even though I have one 50% written), kiss Nepenthe's ass, flirt with Rayihn, listen to Valg bore me to death (unless we are talking fantasy baseball!), etc etc.
