Let me try this again. I thought you said, more or less: We don't need points for roleplaying. Roleplaying should be its own reward if you get recognition from players. Players will expect too much if you introduce a point system because they're entitled. Scrap exp/obs points and let exploring be its own reward.
My point was, game mechanics dictate how people will play the game. To explain more: Even if you scrap exp/obs points, there are still mechanical rewards for doing "mystery" stuff: equipment, quest rewards, preps, etc. It all makes too big of a difference in the game. There should be greater emphasis on game mechanics that reward player interaction, and equipment should matter less (for a lot of reasons, for two see: [

Your post did sound condescending, as though you were talking down to me. It is like you were saying to me personally, I should be happy with recognition from players for roleplaying and implying I feel entitled for suggesting there should be more game mechanic rewards for player interactions. And yes, I did get a little hot under the collar when you started talking about entitlement among the players when we're playing a game where the administration has been pretty unappreciative of their players and for years in the past took them for granted. It's got nothing to do with who you are. It's not personally an attack on you, unless you identify that strongly with the staff. It was more aimed at game design decisions than you. I barely know who you are. That is why I said to "Get off your high horse." That's not an attack. That's an appeal for you to see the game from the same level as me.
