Having the ability to loot and sac adds depth for little complexity. It is easy to do, and has a huge impact on gameplay. I'm still of the opinion that unbalanced equipment is a core problem, and it is the reason loot/sac is more of an issue than the actual death. For some people, rather than try to get the really good equipment again, they'd rather just delete their entire character.
