This video is a goldmine. It talks about how games being purely fun is a dead end. It also clearly demonstrates why CF is still being played 20 years later. It isn't just about being fun. It is about being engaging.

Putting in the recent full loot conversation, getting a full sac is *not* fun. I don't think anyone is really pretending it is. What it *can* be is engaging. Getting full sacced can make you really engaged in revenge. Really willing to put time and effort into the game to fuck over that douchecanoe that just full sacced your shit. That isn't to say it will always go that way, but engagement is the thing that CF does well, should strive for, and continue to build not... not fun. Engagement.
