And taking the average of the hour ranges for each poll option, gives an average daily time of 2.4 hours. That'd yield about 290 regular players, if my other calculates are remotely accurate.
"users logon" gives this:
Total Logons 1259 characters
Average Logon Length 67 minutes
Median Logon Length 43 minutes
Carrion Fields started up at Wed May 28 12:12:35 2008 (CST)
System time is Fri May 30 11:34:23 2008 (CST)
So, assuming "1259 characters" really means "1259 individual logons" and not "1259 characters who logged on at least once", then we have 1259 * (67/60) = 1406 hours logged on CF over a period of 47.367 hours, or approx. 712 per day. That's pretty dang close to the 700 hours I estimated from the basic "users" command output.
What we still don't know, exactly, is the average # of hours per day logged *per player*. We have the 2.4 hr/day estimate, based on the Dio's poll, but that's fairly suspect.
One thing I could do is look at a selection of PBF posts from the officials, when they come back up, and look at each character's total hours divided by the (deletion date - creation date), then take an average of those characters' "hours per day". But that would limit me only to the set of players who get characters high enough to merit a Battlefield post, which may not be representative of the playerbase as a whole.
