This is related to the thread about Nexun and a counter neutral/balance type outfit.
The Hidden:
The Hidden are a society of individuals dedicated to lending aid to those who need it. They have a passion for adjusting the scales of balance so that those groups who have a heavy advantage are somewhat less advantaged. They do not offer their services for free however as they also believe that it is not up to them to decide when and where that aid should be applied but merely to accept or deny requests for aid depending on how they judge the worth of the application for aid. The Hidden have a strict code of honor when it comes to battle and face strong reprisals for breaking it.
The Hidden only accept Rangers, Thieves, Assassins, and Transmuters of sufficient rank to utilize duo dimension.
The Hidden have developed a unique set of skills and powers that enable them to carry out their mission:
1. Disguise (tweak of old Entropy power)
Allows the Hidden to put on a disguise that makes them look like another person.
2. Shadow Mask of the Hidden
Allows the Hidden to put on a 'mask' that in effect makes them anonymous. Doesn't confer any powers or anything. Simply just keeps the player from seeing who they are fighting.
Basically would look like this:
Hidden calls upon the Shadow Mask of the Hidden!
An ethereal mask settles over the face of the hidden and envelopes them in shadows.
As a player looking at or fighting them...
You see a shadowy figure before you. You cannot disern any features about the figure or what they are wearing.
Basically it doesn't make a player 'stronger' it just makes them anonymous.
3. Hidden Death Flame (couldnt think of a good name)
Obviously when the Hidden are defeated in battle having a corpse that can be identified would be a problem in terms of protecting the identity of the members of 'the Hidden'. A member of the Hidden of sufficient rank can prepare themselves before battle to use their last breath to mangle their corpse beyond recognition by calling upon a special techniuue that will cause spontaneous combustion upon death. Only their flesh is burned beyond recognition by this technique...not their items. A smart Hidden who wants to remain hidden would simply call upon the Shadow Mask or don a disguise BEFORE going to retrieve their things.
And thats about it....no powers that make you 'better' at killing but the cabal would be IDEAL information gatherers and folks who for the right price will throw their weight behind a cabal raid (outer only) if you happen to have great odds against you and can afford them.
Rules:
No looting. Your upfront payment is it.
If your identity is compromised you are out. No Hidden knows who another hidden is EXCEPT the leaders of the cabal.
(to make this work the Hidden would have the LEADERS be the only ones with a public face - im sure with a few tweaks to the bounty system already in place there would be a way to contact the hidden when you need to or you simply send a note to the cabal and anyone on can read it and contact you)
