Mind if I riff on this for a bit?

I like the concept for the most part. That being said, here's where my thoughts are running:

Name: Scratch the more generalistic "The Hidden" for something that might lend a bit of flaire...

The Martyrs of the Unsung
============================================================================

Operating away from the oversight of any Theran organization, the Martyrs of the Unsung have
learned from the failures of the Nexus, and now work entirely in secret. Living a life dedicated
to true balance and honor in its purest form leaves one with little or no allies in this war-torn world,
and so the Martyrs, while prepared to give their lives for a cause greater than themselves, are
wise enough to do so under a shadow of anonymity. Theirs is a difficult path, for they go into it
knowing that they will never be thanked for their toil, and when they pass from this world it will
be in silence.

Special notes: The Martyrs are discouraged from hunting, unless it is to restore balance and/or
uphold honor.

Cabal item: a chalice of dragon's blood (I'd like to work dragons heavily into this cabal).

Etc, etc, etc.

============================================================================

POWERS:

Shroud of the Martyr
--------------------------
The first boon granted to an initiate is the Shroud of the Martyr. Anytime, anywhere, it can be
donned, granting blessed anonymity.

*This is a skill, level 11 (lowest conceivable induction level). Toggles on/off with no lag or mana
cost. It has these effects:

-"Where" name substituted with "a shrouded figure". Keywords for targeting would be "shrouded,
martyr, and figure." The character's name is removed as a keyword, so no noodling around with
that.
-All _worn_ weapons and armor become concealed.
-Stealing from and disarming said figure becomes more difficult.
-Character remains on the "who" list, so as not to arouse suspicion. Tells sent to that character show
his/her actual name so that a disguise can be maintained (obviously if you put on the shroud in
mid-conversation, someone could easily figure out who you are.)
-"Esay" is deactivated.
-Special "sleep" and "rest" emotes are deactivated.
-When the character dies, the shroud ignites, charring the body beyond recognition but leaving the
contents unharmed. Also, the character will appear to remain in the PK range on the "who" list. The
character will awaken as "a shrouded specter", rather than a conventional ghost.

Rally
------

Rally is always active. This power will notify a Martyr when an uneven battle has begun, and its general
location. Example usage:

The souls of the Martyrs are enraged as a dishonorable battle breaks out!
In the space of a heartbeat a scene of carnage unfolds in your mind's eye...

Standing Before the Fortress of Light
The Fortress of Light rises before you, standing strong and proud in a
mantle of snow and ice. The thick walls of this fortress are built of huge,
perfectly cut, white stones fitted tightly together. The stones along the
base of the fortress are enormous, taller than any giant and more massive
than most houses. Pennants flying above the watchtowers rustle and flap
defiantly in the chill winds. The huge gate of polished silver is guarded
by a lone figure.

[Exits: north south]
Jokaai the arial is here, fighting Zhurn.
(WANTED) Jolindar the storm giant is here, fighting Zhurn.
Zhurn the minotaur is here, fighting Jolindar.
A huge figure in deep gray armor guards the gate.

At this point the power's timer would kick in, rendering it ineffective for some length of time.
I'd recommend that this ability be coded in such a way that it won't bring the whole Martyr
cabal down on a battle like this. One way would be to make it so that it only fires for as
many Martyrs as their are uneven people in the fight. By that, I mean, in this example
we have Zhurn against two people. Only one Martyr would get the Rally. It's up to that
person if they want to pitch it over the CB, as some situations would make sense for
that...i.e.; a lich or crazy AP, buff paladin, etc.

OK getting pretty tired. I can go off on this a lot more if anyone wants me to.

Cabal Idea: The Hidden

Moligant January 28, 2009 11:31AM

Mind if I riff on this for a bit?

Mek January 28, 2009 08:35PM

Would they forgive or forget? nt

TheAssumedName January 28, 2009 08:01PM

So.. how would they retrieve their own item, without giving up their identity?

Java January 28, 2009 01:11PM

Hidden members are all @#$ orcs. Problem solved. NT

Quixotic January 29, 2009 05:52AM

They can keep the shadow mask of the hidden power or w/e - like how Tribunal keeps "wanted" and "guardcall" n/t

Balrahd(VIP) January 28, 2009 03:12PM

They'd also need it to disguise their specs/skills/spells~

Enbuergo January 28, 2009 04:42PM

Good point: My Answer

Moligant January 28, 2009 02:54PM

Give them a distributed cabal item, but take away the NPC guardian.

burr January 28, 2009 02:49PM

So a PC guards them?

Java January 28, 2009 02:52PM

Re: So a PC guards them?

burr January 28, 2009 03:17PM

Anything that can be defended...

Java January 28, 2009 03:52PM

Re: So.. how would they retrieve their own item, without giving up their identity?

darkpriest January 28, 2009 02:35PM

I would.

Java January 28, 2009 02:49PM

Hidden cabal item is retrieved whenever ANYONE retrieves.

arzzra January 28, 2009 02:54PM

I like this idea better than mine nt

Moligant January 28, 2009 03:09PM

LOL... good one. Though I kinda liked the idea. Needs some more inputs nt

llohuir January 28, 2009 01:15PM

Cool idea stxt

darkpriest January 28, 2009 12:25PM

OOC would ruin this cabal just like it killed Shadow. NT

Sam January 28, 2009 11:40AM

Also, unidentifiable characters (mask) are annoying. nt

laearrist January 28, 2009 11:48AM

To elaborate: Anonymous = griefers

laearrist January 28, 2009 12:01PM

Anonymous is Legion. nt
