There are legitimate reasons for an imperial character to break imperial law as per RP...the main problem for that same character is that they then have to accept that they live in a world of ACTIVE and all-powerful deities who may be watchuing them and will punish them for breaking their laws.
An imperial character can believe in EXPLOITING the laws in order to maximize their own ends but has no compunction about subverting those very same laws when they are inconveniant...but they will do their best to do so without getting caught.
They are after all evil and most importantly CORRUPT. What do folks think corruption means anyways?
To me if an imperial breaks the law it should be rare and they should be punished if caught but I would never go so far as to say that breaking imperial law specifically means that they are bad at roleplay. That makes NO sense whatsoever because you dont have a clue what their role is to begin with.
To me...imperials are like Republicans. They want to control everything and will use any means necessary to gain that control. they are ORDERLY because they want a society run by rules that EVERYBODY UNDERNEATH THEM has to follow while the ones at the top bend those same rules to fit their own ends.
Every now and again you see a Republican go to jail or get outed and the rest of them point fingers and cry foul but we know damn well more than half of them are CORRUPT and doing things that fly directly in the face of their STATED positions.
Danny Dalton in Syriana said it best...
We have laws against it precisely so we can get away with it. Corruption is our protection. Corruption keeps us safe and warm. Corruption is why you and I are prancing around in here instead of fighting over scraps of meat out in the streets. Corruption is why we win. Damn...thats a good ass line to base an imperial on....
