Years of eating orphans takes its toll on young dwarves. If you were paying attention, however, you would know that Vahrtznif is a duergar, so years of eating orphans did not take a toll on him. What did take a toll from duergar (and everyone else) was the Toll Troll standing at the front of the Bridge of Sorrows, a bridge that Vahrtznif desperately needed to pass. Gas. Toot toot.
“So, you want to pass the Bridge of Sorrows, do you” polled the Toll Troll.
“I need to cross the Bridge of Sorrows if I plan on getting to the other side” replied Vahrtznif.
“Bring me a bowl of Lunky Jujus, for they are magically decent™” included the Toll Troll.
With that, Vahrtznif was on the move. He got off the move, and then began hunting down a bowl of Lunky Jujus. “If I needed to find a bowl of Lunky Jujus, where would I go?” thought Vahrtznif. Just then, on the lily pad, Vahrtznif saw a leprechaun. “OOoooh, they always catch me!” shouted the leprechaun, whose nametag revealed his name: Lunky. “There’s Lunky! Catch his Lunky Jujus!” shouted Vahrtznif at himself. He lept onto the lily pad, but the leprechaun moved with soulless agility.
“What if I had a new, great green clover? I could blend right in!” lunked Lunky. He quickly waddled into Clover Forest, which was a field full of clovers. After fashioning himself a clover hat, Lunky prostrated himself onto the ground. However, Vahrtznif has prostrate cancer, and can detect anyone who is laying down. Vahrtznif thought to himself, “You just ran out of lunk, Lunky.” Lunky sighed and bleated “the chase never stops…How can I keep rainbows from fading away, fading away? It’s as colorful as marshmallows in me Lunky Jujus, but now it’s fading away, fading away…” Vahrtznif leaned over and plucked the bowl of Lunky Jujus from Lunky’s hat, stating “all it took was a little luck…
…and a pluck.” Doink!
Vahrtznif returned to the Bridge of Sorrows, eager to give the Toll Troll what was rightfully Lunky’s. Surprised at Vahrtznif’s mission completion time, he accepted the bowl of Lunky Jujus while a toothy grin slowly consumed his face, ending with a small burp. The Toll Troll leaned in and whispered into Vahrtznif’s ear “but can you solve the riddle?”
“You… you tricked me!” Vahrtznif screamed.
“That’s where you’re wrong,” began the Toll Troll, “I may trick you. Then again, I may not.”
