Secondly, it was about IC connection to the cabal. We had two Imms suddenly surface (and when I aimed this character at scion, there was also rumor of there actually being a chancellor, which turned out to be true in the form of Zubi) and I was thinking awesome, I have this open ended role that's perfect for Imm interaction. I then spent many hours backing up that role, as well as constantly fighting against pretty shitty odds, which I prefer to being overly dominant and, as is the case with fortress, having my fights interrupted by others looking to sate their own pk wants/needs.
I wanted IC interactions. With immortals. They're an integral part of the game. My reward was from a role contest. I never denied that I was rewarded for my role contest entry. I am thankful that Yean provided me with the form. If you look at the rants again, you'll see my beef was that the only recognition I received (other than the edge, which, as I still maintain was a booby prize *see Gnarugk's deletion thread re: Thrakburzug*) was from an OOC contest, and was implemented as OOC as the contest itself.
I love that I had the airform. I loved playing the character. I loved playing this game. I detest sup-par players being recognized and/or rewarded for their efforts when other players make greater efforts, against worse odds, and succeed and get nothing. Someone mentioned that "they cannot pk your title" or some shit.
To me, getting a title is tantamount to being recognized for something you've done. I did much. Others did much less. Others received titles. I received an edge for doing (with 1 exception, which may or may not have been relevant, depending on what one other person did, and they claimed to not have done), in 2 hours, what others took 3 days to do. I didn't want the edge. I just did it to get some face time with an Imm in my cabal. She seemed distracted, under/unprepared, and unwilling to pursue any line of conversation, despite my efforts. That chapped my balls.
I regret that I was as antagonistic as I was. Alcohol fueled a lot of the fire that turned frustration into an insane rant. It happens. Regardless of how crude/crass/ignorant/assholish it was, my point stands.
And yes, I did receive an edge, IC. So yes, in that, I went too far in saying I received nothing. That I had to involve myself in an easter egg hunt with cabal applicants to even get into the situation speaks volumes.
No, I'm no Kostyan/Cabdru/Blitzenturt/Ravon etc. I didn't put up 100 pks. I wasn't even an Ikanu, or a Dierj. But I played balls out, against shitty odds, regularly, and didn't die very often. I was frequently accused, in character, of never fighting without ABS. As some of the logs I posted show, and many others I haven't, that's simply not true.
I took chances. The game isn't fun if you don't.
The best I can do, for you, is to say you're right on that account. I did get something, and said I didn't. That was wrong. But it also doesn't detract, too much, from the point I was trying to make, that so many others seem to recognize and agree with.
Clearly, though, this isn't the game for me anymore. Over a decade playing, and almost every character I play anymore seems less and less rewarding for me. I had fun playing Korrock, but the only perks I got from my efforts there were from a role contest (and the log I have of those rewards being implemented is both amusing and incredibly OOC).
Why can't something like that warrant 2 minutes of IC interactions?
