Last year the company made an internal announcement that they would essentially pull back sales staff and focus on upsales to their current customers rather than looking for new customers.

They've had 2 rounds of layoffs for engineers already.

Funny, it usually works the other way. Companies keep their sales staff going full force and cut everything else.
