I'm constantly shocked at how prevalant cheating appears to be in college. Further, I'm always disappointed by how socially acceptable it seems to be. People joking about how the only way the passed class XYZ is because they cheated off the guy next to them, etc.
So, here are my questions:
Did you cheat and if so, did you follow any of your own rules to "how much"? Only on homework assignments? Take-home exams? In-class exams? Do you feel different between high school, undergraduate, and graduate school cheating?
How much cheating do you think was going on?
Do you think universities should try more extreme methods of cutting down on cheating? (Examples would be to stop giving credit for homework assignments and out-of-class assignments...and just count the in-class exams where you are monitored. Another line of reasoning is to make you put all your bags up at the front of the room, take off any ball caps, remove cell phones, not let you leave to go to the bathroom, etc.)
If you're ok with cheating...do you have concerns about this cheapening college degrees in general?
Personally...I think this is yet another reason why there are entirely too many people in college that don't belong there. It's not supposed to be a 4 year drunken party. If you don't have enough honor to take the grade you earned, go the fuck home, sir.
