Been a while. I hear my name (Graatch, not my real name) has come up in this online chat thing called discord (I'm 51, forgive me if I don't keep up with all the new ways people troll each other :)). How is everyone? Susu on the pillar yet? ;)
Hope each of you is well and already having happy and healthy 2020s. Life's too short to be angry at people after playing a game from
Two things. First, this topic was raised many years ago, thought you might be interested to see what people said back in 2006. There are a lot of good ones listed.
Second, here's what I said then, and remains true:
"Graatch the Hero of Transmutation, Assembler of Armies, Holder of Grudges". This was after I organized the gigantic ridiculous but fun 18 person group t
That being said, who did you play back then? Did we interact a lot? I have some recollections - nexus as at the top of the river north of tar valon (was it voralia at that point?) - but not a lot of other specific memories.
Yes, I saw that vital attempt. Unclear how long he had and if he thought he was fighting, not Gibbah, but giving you the benefit of the doubt, that was probably a poor choice. Having said that, he didn't start the fight with you, it only came after the devil drew him into combat. More, after trying, and failing, that one vital, he never again attempted to touch you, he pummeled the devil
1 - But we know they have the head because Oth does have deathblows. So I'm not sure what you're point is here?
2 - I can't tell if you're being serious or really just throwing a dig at Jalim. If the former, that's wholly wrong, it absolutely was never allowed, and if so now, that's a significant change. There are a whole host of items that while not "magic
First. Are you sure Gib is a berserker? There are several rounds of fighting logged here and I did not see one deathblow. None even attempted. A hero berserker dual wielding going a fight without even one deathblow attempt, much less landing one, would be remarkably bad rng to the point where I'm doubting he's a berserker. Maybe, but seems unlikely.
Second. I am shocked, genuinel
Aren't duergar resistant to "magic"? Or is that just dwarves and svirf? If so though, wouldn't it mean that you actually should prefer iceneedles over most other invoker attacks, as they would fall into the "magic" damage category?
I used bloodthirst all the time, including when he was vis (same for vassagon and boltthrower, whose tattoo I had as well), and they never had any problems, ever, with my using it in any situation.
I didn't have Nimbus' tattoo, but there was plenty of villager interaction and it was all good. Same for the others.
Bloodthirst is the same as bash is the same as word of recall is the same as lightforge is the same as shove, etc. They are all abilities to be used. There is no constraint on bloodthirst, and frankly especially bloodthirst as it's one of the most easily exploitable powers, and comes with enormous drawbacks that are more likely to get you killed, and even if you win your fight, still likel
Define "use" or "need". There is literally nothing in a corpse that can't be used. First and most obvious, wearable gear upgrades. Universal agreement here. You're wearing charred bracers and sewer red dragon armor and the guy you just beat is rocking darkened armor and wide coppers? Time for the tried and true "rem all;drop all;g all corpse". I imagin
Or what your reputation is in the game, other than what the people below posted which indicates you're a full looter yourself. So, that being said, here's what I very much enjoyed about your post:
1 - You don't seem able to count. As in, Sesame "The Count" Street level counting. The best part being your use of "literally", which of course was the opposite
He repeatedly chastised (by which I mean smites) villagers for calling themselves barbarians, saying they were soldiers, fighters, whatever, and better than everyone, and followed an "order" of their own, if not the laws of anyone else. It's part and parcel of when the war room and all that stuff came in.
Maybe there's been a return to the original Boltthrower days, but
Number 2 appears technically to be wrong. Number 2 should read: "Some non-mage enemies attacked Shaapa. After retreating, Shaapa returned to re-engage them in a different area."
Discussing whether Shaapa's reasoning for returning to fight the non-mage enemies is fine and people can disagree whether it was appropriate. But as a technical matter, there is a difference between
Gotta be about a decade ago now, maybe even longer, I had this exact discussion when I was marshal of the fortress, and everyone agreed it was terrible form and violative rp for goodies to summon mobs of any align (different reasons for good/neutral as opposed to evil) to be summoning mobs to act as body shields. It actually was in response to people summoning mobs to the Vanquisher when empire
This post makes things significantly worse. I don't have the time or inclination to go through all of it, but a few real doozies stick out.
First. "Why no list of gears? It gives OOC info about best things which are available to retake just now." Followed up in the very next paragraph by, "Losing tiamat's pendant, fulminator gauntlets, brazier, cointainer with all m
...you are sorely mistaken. Maybe you were being imprecise and meant least prep dependent, in which case you are correct. But actual equ? Ragers are perhaps the most reliant. They have nothing else beyond their cabal powers and their equ. They can't use preps. They can't get a friend to sanc, or shield, or haste, or anything else whatsoever.
And note you are classifying by cab
I'd actually like to see the log of the raid itself, please. That's much better reading material. Logs like this aren't really any fun.
Oh, and as others have mentioned, you must be relatively new. Your definition of "full loot" not only is factually incorrect, as you got back quite a lot of items, every single one of which was high end (Dragon Lair stuff, Hell stuf
Uh, I led that inferno trip, as Graatch. Though Challen and Kantherion were clearly the other two biggies. I was Masters, Challen knight, Kantherion arbiter.
And Challen worked at a law firm for several years after law school, and then went to WoW. He and I kept in touch for a while back then (we are both NYC natives) and he absolutely was not fazed by anything CF imms did to him.
And y
You can heal through anything with whispers, except poison. For some reason poison is like critical hit, it cuts through everything. Which is weird, as it's the most common of all and so you'd think that they'd have whispers work to mitigate it, but it doesn't. Regular poison straight up nerfs whispers.
Caveat that if they changed it in the last few years, ok.
If you're telling me that the village is ok with any villager, of any path, deliberately ganging someone (other than usual caveats for liches, big aps, etc.), then things really have changed since my time. I would be hard pressed to believe any village imm I dealt with would stand for what's in this log for a second. These two would at the very least get a tongue lashing, and more like
Come on! The only person you never looked at, not even once, was Eulinda!! How could you not look at her? Sigh.
Anyway, brings back some fun memories. That character was hysterical and so much fun to play. Wouldn't be nearly as deathfull with the various changes since then, but it was a great combo at the time. Just went and reread the pbf. Hysterical. Eshval and Daevryn make some
