[I'm fascinated by the historicity of the Christian religion (of which, say, Mormonism lacks if you will). There is an authenticity and accuracy there that many other religions lack.]
Suffice to say that it largely consisted of the rich and royal harassing and murdering in the name of their "God", stealing rituals/symbolism from pagan/nature/ancient religions in order to subvert them, persecuting anyone who disagreed with them, and manipulating entire cultures and countries with the "church" in order to gain more wealth and power. I'm talking about Catholicism in particular, but that's basically your flagship "christian" body in a historical sense.
I'm fascinated too. Fascinated by how I could have actually been another unwitting sheep in the Catholic flock for so long before i wised up and converted to Buddhism.
