But I do think there is a difference between establishing protection (say, putting something in a vault) and being fearful (constantly having people check the vault because you're so fucking scared someone is stealing from it). They both can happen together, of course, but I wouldn't say that fear and worry, or fear and prediction, or whatever are the same. Fear I chalk up as more intense. If I fear robbery, I'm scared of it, freaked out, whatever. If I'm prepared for it, then I am ready/have a gun/am ready to punch/etc.
From my understanding, and I could be wrong - Quas actually fears the tool "gun". Guns freak him out. He's less scared of people than he is of the actual gun - which is fine. I think Matrik got that same readin, which is why he mentioned that he, himself, has fears.
I could be totally off, but I do think that's the difference between Quas and Matrik here. Matrik wants to be "prepared" for a possible scenario. He isn't necessarily fearing, frightened, etc. He just wants to be ready. Quas fears guns and what they can cause. This is why there seems to be a big difference between how Quas and I/Matrik/whatever think about guns. He sees them as danger. We see them as protection. Quas is fine with knives, etc. Which all also can exert murderous intent. So it's not that he fears "robbery" or "stabbing" etc. - He is focused on that singular tool: Guns.
But yeah, I don't own a gun, but I also don't consider fear to be the prime motive for getting one. Same reason I don't consider fear to be the reason you lock your door, or drive in the correct lanes of traffic, etc. I consider those just actions of prevention, protection, etc. where I put "fear" up higher. I'm sure some people get guns out of being scared shitless OF THE GUBBERMENT GUNNA KILL ME! But I doubt that is the majority. I really imagine all this wasn't needed, especially given that I'm really only talking about the contextual nature of fear in comparison to taking preventative action, but I think it's an interesting topic -- Plus I just really disagree with Quas. Like...We're talking opposite spectrum. Not just like "Well, we don't see eye to eye" but like "If those things were ever being pushed I would argue against them loudly and actually potentially be shifted from my otherwise consistent apathy to speak against it".
