Pico being really serious:

Pico says 'the IMPs and your cabal immortals have been discussing your stay at 52'

You nod.

Pico says 'and although we know you did two quality areas, your production has not indicated you would perform the duties as an immortal here to our standards'

Pico says 'basically, other than your areas, we haven't noticed much in the way of contributions, especially to your cabal'

Pico says 'initiative and conscientious effort are some of the most important traits we look for in the avatars'

Pico says 'as I've said, a second area doesn't get you 53 -- it's basically a showcase for us to evaluate your potential to be an immortal'

Pico says 'and you have failed in our eyes'

Pico says 'we were looking for improvement after completion of your areas, but did not notice any'

Pico says 'therefore we are asking you to leave the Immortal staff'

look
The Bizarre
You are standing in a room of immense confusion and chaos. There is
nothing per se, but you just feel as if everything in the whole world,
perhaps all time and space is assaulting your conscious. A rainbow of
light, a cacophony of sound, ectasy, and terror, fill your mind and soul.
When you come to a reasonable form of orientation you realize you are
in the presence of a great being, a being of immense presence and
stature. The only thing that enters your body now is a combination of
shear terror and awe.
A portrait of an Arial is on the wall, exuding a shivering feeling.
There is a grand statue of a panther off to one side of you.
There is a monument of pure gold depicting a graceful Arial on the other
side of you.
A chromatic flame burns fiercely all around you.

[Exits: none]
(Wizi) The Bird of Prey is here, screeching maniacally at you.

You say 'I see...'

Pico says 'you may leave an IC note to the mortals, if you wish, and a note to the Imm staff if you'd like too'

You say 'I was rather expecting to delete soon, I suppose, considering the way things have been going.'

Pico says 'do you have any questions for me?'

You say 'The biggest problem I have with this...'

You say 'Is that I feel I've run into walls every time I try to do anything.'

You say 'For a time, I even tried to ask everyone I could what I should be doing differently to rank.'

You say 'And no one ever gave me even half an answer, that I could tell.'

You say 'Every cabal suggestion I've made, has been ignored or forgotten, which I always found odd.'

You say 'We talked for a time about new powers or something else to revitalize Arbiters, and I wrote a few things up and sent them to Bria and Astein'

You say 'I was told they'd look them over and we'd discuss that... never happened'

You say 'Same with several other ideas.'

You say 'I didn't think Udgaard should be a protected city any more... had a proposal for how to change it IC, Bria even told me she liked the idea'

You say 'But she never got back to me on that either.'

You say 'I do interviews and inductions whenever I can...'

You say 'I was about to do one now.'

You say 'But when I asked what else I should be doing, I didn't get an answer.'

You say 'I spent tons of time with the mortals, at the Inn, in town, talking with Arbiters.'

You say 'And never mind the two areas.'

You say 'I've never been able to figure out why nothing seemed to get noticed.'

You say 'Shok tried to look into it for me, and he got the same answers I got.'

You say 'Which didn't really tell anything.'

You say 'I *wanted* to contribute, but it didn't seem like anyone else did.'

You say 'Do you think I'm just way off base?'

Pico says 'I can tell you that Bria and Astein tell a different story'

You say 'I'd be curious to hear it.'

Pico says 'I forget my exact phrasing, but they were told to see about getting you more involved so that your competence as an imm could be judged'

You say 'I think deleting is a good idea now, but I want to know why I wasted 1754 hours.'

You say 'I haven't had ONE word from Astein in months.'

You say 'Nor Bria for that matter.'

Pico says 'as for you asking what you could do and getting no answers'

You say 'Aside from when I run into them in the gathering room, or manage to catch on vis.'

Pico says 'I recall you asking me and I told you pretty much what I've just said: 52s are judged by the IMPs and their cabal immortals on their fitness to be a full imm here'

Pico says 'that you needed to work in your cabal and be around and help out where you can'

You nod.

Pico says 'who is right as far as helping the cabal, I'm getting two stories'

Pico says 'besides being outvoted 2 to 1, you're outranked and I have to trust those immortals to make judgments about you'

You say 'Well, I really would like to hear what they have to say about me.'

Pico says 'essentially what I was told is that for the last couple of months you provided little input to the cabal and limited your actions to just a few inductions'

Pico says 'that you seemed to talk in 1200 instead of to Bria and Astein'

Pico says 'that if you were burned out with the Arbiters (which isn't uncommon) that you had not expressed it to anyone'

You say 'And thats the best explanation I'm going to get?'

Pico says 'I'm only going to summarize what I was told, if you want a full, detailed explanation about your cabal, that's not my department'

You ponder the question.

You say 'Well, I guess thats it then.'

You say 'I'm not surprised, or even that angry.'

You say 'But I'm really bitter I got stuck between a rock and a hard place for this long, and thats the best explanation I get, despite actively looking for a better one.'

You say 'So if I was that unproductive, and wasted everyones time, I want to have my areas removed, just so we don't miss anything.'

Pico says 'that's your right, of course'

Calarathiel tells you '*smile* Thank you for being here, good Lord Jaldean! Might I go somewhere to speak with you before the wedding, dear?'

You say 'I'm sure you're doing what you have to do, but can you understand why I'm a little bitter here?'

You tell Calarathiel 'I don't believe thats going to be possible at the moment, dear.'

Calarathiel tells you 'Aye, Lord Jaldean.'

Pico says 'to an extent I can understand you were in a rut and couldn't seem to get out of it'

Pico says 'and what the solution to it may have been at the time, I don't know'

Pico says 'as I said, the only mention to me you made was recommendations on what to do'

You nod.

Pico says 'granted I did not give you an explicit instruction set, but being an immortal is not like baking a cake'

You say 'I believe you told me to talk to Bria about it'

The animation leaves Pico's body.

The Black Talon stops glowing.

Pico says 'sorry, my link just went bad'

You nod.

You say 'Well, I certainly don't want to get into an argument over who did what wrong, especially since its obviously a bit late to convince anyone of anything.'

You say 'Is there anything else?'

The animation leaves Pico's body.

The Black Talon stops glowing.

Pico mutters something quietly to himself.

Pico says 'sorry'

You nod.

Pico says 'I think things are better now'

Pico says 'what was the last I said?'

You say 'Well, we were going around about what I talked to you and bria about'

You say 'But I don't honestly want to get into an argument over who did what wrong, especially since its obviously a bit late to convince anyone of anything.'

Pico nods.

You say 'So if you don't have anything else to say, I'll write a note and be done with it.'

Pico says 'is there a time frame you would like us to keep on removing your two areas from Thera?'

You say 'How about the next reboot?'

You shrug.

You say 'You said yourself I didn't do enough to be an immortal.'

You say 'I'm certainly not going to delete and leave the work I did do'

Pico says 'I said you didn't demonstrate the abilities to advance to 53'

You say 'Especially since *I* thought it was pretty good.'

You nod.

Pico says 'you did enough to make it where you are now'

Pico says 'as for the areas, they will be removed, but the next reboot is not feasible'

You say 'When then?'

You say 'I'll appologize to the mortals on my own, and to Sebeok for wasting his time too.'

You say 'But I don't want them to be used.'

Pico says 'we have to go through the objects from the area'

Pico says 'how about the end of Tuesday?'

You nod.

You say 'Thats acceptable.'

You say 'And I'm not sure what difference it makes, but I'm not going to become an anti-immortal or anything, and I certainly wont speak of any information that was immortal-only to anyone else.'

Pico nods.

Pico says 'that's certainly appreciated and expected'

Pico says 'I'm sorry you don't feel that your areas belong in Thera anymore as others have, but everyone has their own perogative'

You nod.

Pico says 'should we remove the Eastern woods as well?'

You say 'I have to say I'm sorry you feel I don't belong in Thera anymore as others do, but...'

You fall down laughing.

You say 'No, I only wrote a third of that, or so. You can keep it.'

Pico nods.

You say 'I find it funny you ask though.'

Pico says 'Trying to minimize our area loss, was hoping you'd feel that way'

You nod.

You say 'Anything else?'

Pico says 'not unless you have any other questions'

You shake your head.

Pico shakes your hand.

You say 'I'll finish a note in a second.'

Jaldean: The long road
To: all

There comes a time when everyone has to choose their path. For the last
1190 years mine has been serving as an Arbiter, and for a time as the
Avatar of knowledge in Thera. I find now that I grow weary of it. All
of those I knew and grew with are ages turned to dust. Now I take my
retirement from my post, and set out to do things I haven't done yet...
one lifetime, even an immortal one, is not enough to learn everything.
Besides, Astillian's dwarven ale has been giving me heartburn lately,
and I've become hard of hearing from listining to Arbiters cases. I
think I've earned my rest now.

And on that note, I set off to join Lord Justin.
Farewell, and good travels.

Jaldean
