>On the contrary, being full looted by default forces you to invest in the character RATHER THAN the equipment and inventory.
>>Why should I invest in the character that keeps getting killed/fulled? If he's weak and loses fights constantly then being looted just makes it a downward spiral which just drains the will to play.
Why is he weak and losing fight constantly? Everyone is full looted/sacced. No one is investing in equipment/inventory. I never said let's all full loot/sac Murphy and change nothing for everyone else. You also don't need gear to compete even WITHOUT full loot sac by default. Shaapa has proved this.
>Only if you're a gear locker, which I know you aren't. In fact, the CF of my vision I know will appeal to you much greater than you realize.
>>A gear locker is someone who keeps gear they're not using. Whether by keeping it in their inventory or by wearing it but only barely logging in to play. I'm not that person. I typically keep good >>gear, but I also play a lot and if you want that gear you can kill my character and take it. Only one of my characters ever had 0 PK deaths.
Right. Like I said. I know you aren't a gear locker.
>Everything can be used by everyone. Whether it's selling, saccing for one gold, holding for ransom, or sacrificing in the name of their god/religion/dogma (ie. outlander saccing adamantite for instance, villager saccing magic). Every item in Carrion Fields is a prop built for roleplay.
>>In the memory of the Matrik I knew, I will not tell you to fuck off. I will, however, point out that by "using" I meant using. Not selling or saccing for one copper or giving to Tahren or whatever. That >>doesn't count.
Why doesn't it? Arbitrary sportsmanship that killed CF.
>To add, if full loot/sac is the default, then you won't be so easily out numbered and out powered. Everyone is suddenly on a much more even playing field in terms of gear/preps/whatever.
>>I disagree. In such an environment, permas will thrive so much more.
People cheat. I can't make them stop no matter how much I shame them. Permas thrive now, and they will thrive in the new world of default loot/sac. The only difference is now you can kill them because they aren't also perma-decked thanks to sportsmanship.
>In a game where full loot/sac is the norm, all three of these things become more bearable. You assume all is gone, so who cares.
>>I spoke about destroying gear without actually winning the fight. This is griefing and drives most players nuts, that's why I always take the time to even return weapons that I stole/disarmed. >>(Unless my enemy is a dickbag, in that case they're getting their just desserts.)
You don't speak for most players. You can only speak for Murphy. The term griefing is overused in the same way the term racism is overused. Such that it has lost it's meaning since you apply it even to people who are playing within the rules. When you play within the rules, you aren't griefing. You're playing the game. A game being defined as a set of rules we all agree to when we engage in the game. Having equipment destroyed doesn't drive me nuts. I know it doesn't drive Miyagi nuts. I bet Isildur doesn't get his panties in a twist either. Sultan certainly doesn't cry when he loses a set. That's four of the current six players in CF.
>In CF your enemies ARE dickbags. If your character doesn't view them as a dickbag, why are they killing them in the first place?
>>CF heroes are larger-than-life people who are involved in an epic struggle. Have you ever heard of respect between enemies? This should be by default.
Involved in an epic struggle in which they refuse to win by crushing their enemies into the dirt? What you describe is Monopoly or some other child's board game in which you only engage in the bare minimum of human drama. What I describe is Carrion Fields. A realm of death, blood shed, and destruction that gets to keep moving forward thanks to live not being as fragile (multiple deaths). A game where we are free to mimic the cruelty of the real world and all its dramatic variance without actually hurting anyone.
>I don't genuinely hate or want anyone to suffer at all. You genuinely hate and want people to suffer? You shouldn't be playing the game. Also, if it's by default, then it is no longer a punishment.
>>You sound like you do. I don't want people to suffer, and that's why I advocate against full-looting. I only endorse griefing against people who are griefers themselves.
Then you should play endless variants of Aster and nothing else. That's the only role type that fits your chosen play style. When everyone plays that way, there is no Carrion Fields. Losing equipment in a game is not suffering. Heat, cold, hunger, and thirst are suffering. You're life has been way too easy and it sounds like a full loot/sac Carrion Fields is exactly what you need to help you experience real life without the scars.
Sportsmanship killed CF
